A tentative agreement has been announced in connection with a 2005 crash that claimed the life of a truck driver on Interstate 390 in New York.

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports that more than $2.6 million will be awarded to the family of Ernest Dale Zeiset of Pennsylvania.

The 42-year-old Zeiset was reportedly one of four people killed when the driver of a bus carrying a women's Canadian hockey team fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into Zeiset's tractor trailer, which was parked on the shoulder of the highway in Geneseo.

The news agency reports that Zeiset's wife, six children and the bus company involved in the crash, Coach Canada, have reached a contingent settlement.

Zeiset's children, who reportedly range in age from 10 to 26 years old, will split $1.85 million from the wrongful death suit. Zieset's wife will reportedly receive $400,00. The family will also receive additional money for pain and suffering and another $240,000 in lost wages.

The agreement must be approved by Zeiset's worker's compensation insurance carrier.

According to CBC News, three members of the Canadian hockey team on the bus at the time of the accident were awarded $2.25 million in damages after a jury trial in 2010.

Many families who have lost loved ones due to a motor vehicle wreck seek out lawsuit loans from a legal funding company to help finance similar litigation.. These funds can help buy the time you need while your lawyer gets you the best settlement for your injuries. While these types of transactions are many times referred to as lawsuit loans, they are not actually loans. When someone is lent money, they owe that money no matter what. Plaintiffs only have to pay back legal funding if you win a settlement. This money gives them money so they don’t have to settle for less.
